For five years now I’ve been growing my own food. On the allotment, in pots and even on a windowsill, I make the most of urban gardening to add healthy produce to my meals.
What started off this passion? I was bored of bland supermarket produce. I yearned for fresher, more colourful vegetables and fruit. And now I’m on a mission to prove that you can do the same, even if you’re a single parent or you work 40+ hours a week. By making little changes and introducing the odd tomato plant here and there, you can bring some beautiful harvests into your mealtimes too!
Growing your own food isn’t just for retired people – it’s something that we can all do.
You should embrace it and engage with it – because those homegrown harvests will keep on giving.
